That will be a great idea to start diving in Sabah!

How can I start it?
All you need to do is take a diving course - PADI Open Water Diver (OWD), you may get your diving license in 4 days. It costs you about RM800 to RM1200, fee has included instructor, return boat transfer, equipments renting, food, entrance fee, diving fee and examination fees. You will get discount if you come in group. SSI offers similar but cheaper course at about RM550 to RM 650.

You may visit Borneo Divers (http://www.borneodivers.info/) or Downbelow (http://www.downbelow.co.uk/) for further details, or book it here: PADI Scuba Open Water Course

Normally you will sit in class for lessons on first day. On second day the instructor will teach you how to use diving equipments and handling of emergency, this will be done either in pool or beach. After that you will be taken to open water for real diving. It is safe if you follow exactly the book and instructor’s instructions.

Dive site
There are a lot of dive site around Sabah, the easiest one to reach is Tunku Abdul Rahman Park (TARP) which is located near Kota Kinabalu city. Sipadan, Mabul, Mataking, Kapalai which is located at east coast of Sabah is world famous dive site. Don’t forget to bring along with your diving license for experienced diver!
